About Me
Growing up, I had the unique privilege of studying at an international school in a bustling city far from my hometown. While my roots were firmly planted in Punjabi and Hindi, I became fluent in English—something that set me apart in my community, where many people faced language barriers. In my hometown, communication was often confined to those who shared the same regional language or cultural background. This experience opened my eyes to the rich linguistic diversity of India, where every state has its own language and, in many southern regions, English is the bridge for communication.
After graduating, I quickly realised how valuable my English skills were. They unlocked doors I never imagined, showing me the true power of language in breaking barriers and expanding horizons. But it wasn’t just the professional opportunities that fuelled my passion for languages—it was the human connections that came with them.
On Sundays, I volunteered to teach English to underprivileged children in my community. Watching their growth and confidence build with every lesson ignited something in me. Then, in 2016, a relative living abroad asked if I could teach their teenage children Punjabi. These kids, like many in the diaspora, spoke only English and struggled to connect with their cultural roots. Preparing my first Punjabi lesson for them was a new challenge, but within weeks, the boys were not just speaking Punjabi—they were excited about it. That moment was a turning point for me.
What started as a favour soon blossomed into something much bigger. Positive feedback spread, and before I knew it, I was teaching students from all over the world. Each lesson became more than just language instruction—it became a way for people to reconnect with their culture, heritage, and loved ones.
Teaching has become more than just a profession for me—it’s deeply personal. Every time I help someone reconnect with their roots, communicate with loved ones, or embrace a new culture, I’m reminded of why I started this journey. Watching my students gain confidence and seeing the joy in their faces when they realise they can finally express themselves in Punjabi or Hindi is incredibly fulfilling. Language isn’t just about words—it’s about opening hearts, building bridges, and creating opportunities that go beyond the classroom. This is what drives me with every lesson, and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping others unlock their potential through the beauty of language.
